Gorrick MTB events this Spring

by Jane Lucas, 19 Mar 18.

We hope your riding's going well, especially now the weather has improved and Spring is properly on its way. Here's what we're running in the next couple of months and, as you can see, there's pretty much something for everyone.

Sunday 8 April - SKEDADDLE XC Classic

Area 51, Frimley Green, Surrey - nearest postcode GU16 6HT

This is the event that was postponed from 4 March due to snowfall and is an MTB races event sponsored by Saddle Skedaddle who lead the way in innovative cycling holidays both in the UK & worldwide. Two lucky riders will win a spot prize Saddle Skedaddle weekend MTB break in a prize draw in which all riders over 18 are automatically entered.

Expect a superb course based around a hill in well-draining open mixed woodland, fern covered gullies and pine forest. There's good parking on fire breaks and within the woods. Area 51 is particularly good for watching the racing too, as the grassy Arena area gives access to the Start area and the course flows away then returns close to the Arena several times.

There's a wide choice of categories to choose from - full details and online entry are HERE but you can also just turn up on Sunday morning and enter then.

Sunday 22 April - SCOTT Gravity Trail Enduro

Area 51, Frimley Green, Surrey - nearest postcode GU16 6HT

Our first Gravity Trail Enduro is sponsored by SCOTT who, guided by innovation, technology and design, develop superb bikes, apparel and equipment. It'll be a prestigious event with plenty of trophies and ace prizes.

Expect a gravity fed timed race event that's a race but not in the XC Enduro sense, as you will not be competing shoulder to shoulder, this is you versus the course helped by gravity. It's not a pure downhill event, so they will be no gnarly steep descents or massive drop offs, but circuits of the venue which include a number of timed trail stages. You won't need a special bike with loads of travel either, just bring what you have and enjoy the event. Bring your supporters with you too, as there'll be great spectating and banter.

Full details and online pre-entry are HERE Please note this event has LIMITED ONLINE PRE-ENTRY ONLY and there are not that many spaces left now.

Sunday 6 May - KAWASAKI G100 XC Enduro

Minley Manor, Yateley, Hants, nearest postcode GU17 9LP

Our well established, popular and unique Spring time XC endurance event the Gorrick 100, is held on the Sunday of the May Bank holiday weekend and headline sponsored byKawasaki.co.uk whose world class motorbikes offer balanced performance, enduring reliability and exceptional engineering and design.

Expect a fun, but challenging event where every rider choses their own challenge of 7, 5, 4, 3, 2 or 1 laps of a classic all weather XC endurance course (approx 14-15km per lap). Riders who complete their challenge receive a finisher's medal and there are plenty of trophies plus superb prizes and spot prizes from Kawasaki to be won too. Riders over 12 who are new to XC endurance riding or those who would just like a taster can opt to do one lap. Full details and online entry are HERE and entry on the day is always available.
