Crowthorne Wood pre-race news

by Jon Lucas, 04 Nov 03.

This Sunday 9 November sees the last of our Autumn races at Crowthorne Wood, Berkshire our home venue. Whilst we can't do anything about the weather, we'll keep our fingers crossed and lay on all the usual facilities. We've got some new sections of course lined up plus many of the old favourites, but no 'Corkscrew' this time (sighs of relief from some!).

Mountain Trax will also be there doing some bike fettling, so if you have a problem on the day, they will be more than happy to have a look at your pride and joy. TORQ Fitness will be on hand to talk about your nutrition and training needs, and their energy bars will be on sale too. Hope to see you there.

Christmas Cracker Rally Raid – 7 December at Normandy Cricket Club

Moving on, there is still time to enter for our new type of event the 'Rally Raid 100'. This takes place on Sunday 7 December from the Cricket Club at Normandy, Surrey. With a choice of time schedule to suit every rider and a free laminated map, you plan your route from checkpoint to checkpoint through some fantastic Surrey Hills countryside. This should ensure a great day out and there'll be a bar and food available afterwards.

The huge interest shown in this event means that we are already planning some new venues for Rally Raids in 2004. Don't forget though that entries are limited, so get yours in soon.

Training Seminar – 29 November

Just a reminder that Gorrick MBC have got together with TORQ to present a training seminar for all levels of rider on Saturday 29 November at 9.30am at Normandy Cricket Club. As well as valuable advice on training, Matt Hart will also give you an insight into a healthy diet to ensure that you get the most from your mountain biking. Entry for the day costs ?20 and close on the 21st November.
