Skedaddle Spring Series 1 - Crowthorne Wood - Results and Photographs

Crowthorne Wood was host to Round 1 of the Saddle Skedaddle Gorrick Spring Series. What a fine day it turned out to be as 100's of keen racers lined up ready to test their legs and lungs in earnest for the first XC race of the new season. Yet again the Gorrick Team excelled themselves to create a 4.6 mile lap that introduced trails old and new. Given the persistent rain in the week and during Saturday night course conditions probably surprised many who were expecting a "bogfest". Yes it was slippery in places, that just adds to the fun, but overall it could be described as "the going was good to soft". If you're eager to see how you fared against your competitors please click through to Timelaps results via the link above. Our event photographer Kevin Sheldrake was lurking somewhere in the woods, links to his photos are also available above.

The Spring Series carries points toward the overall final series positions at Round 3. Points are awarded to the top 15 finishers in each category. You need three points scoring rounds to qualify, but the more races you complete in a top position the better your chance of winning. Series trophies for the winners of each category will be presented at the final round of the Series and are generously provided by Four4th Lights. There are no Series prizes for Under 11's and 13's, Fun or Beginners categories. The Series Points Listings are published 3-5 days after each race.

So we now look forward to Round 2 on March 13 at Frith Hill, Deepcut. This was the venue used for Round 2 of the Merida Brass Monkeys, so we'll get to use some of that track which is now well bedded in and riding well.

A lifelong Gorrick Sponsor, local cycle shop Mountain Trax are pleased to announce a mountain bike Demo Day on Saturday 26th March. They have a huge of brands test bikes to try from race whippets, to trail bikes, Plus and Fat bikes. Visit their website for full information and pre-booking.
