Torq in your Sleep is now in it's eighth year, I can't quite believe it, can you? Goodness knows what we'll do for it's tenth anniversary... 10-mile lap anyone?! I look forward to then and seeing how many of you have attended every one, now there's a challenge.

Back to this weekends event when the festivities kicked off on Saturday with the children's races, from the two year old balance bikers right upto 15 year olds. They had the fun of starting under the inflatable arch in the arena taking on the loop of fireroad and singletrack to Pheasant Plucker Hill. Medals and sweets for all were gratefully accepted as we cheered the riders of the future.

Sunday dawned overcast and humid as the midday countdown began. More riders than ever lined up through the start S's in readiness for the quad bike lead-out, some had even lined up with 35 minutes to go eager to be on the front row. With toots, cheers and a roar the quad and 100's of riders were gone, off to do battle with each other and the fun trails. Trail conditions were good considering all the rain during the week, but slightly tacky singletrack made the course a little slower to ride than usual. As the day and night wore on the Gorrick Trail Team were out in force checking areas that could cause issues and some small re-routes were made, which I know the riders were grateful for. You'll know doubt have your favourites, such as; Banksey, Sponge Bob, Back to Front, Pheasant Plucker Hill lit up with glowsticks at night, and the new Corkscrew-esque descent into the top field. Sorry we didn’t have the trail name signs up, will do so for next year, as it really helps riders describe the course.

Racing was as always closely fought with many podiums not decided until the final laps. There's too many categories too mention, so full results are available via the link above, along with Kevin Sheldrake's photographs for purchase.

On behalf of Gorrick I'd like to thank all the riders and supporters for making such a great event even better with a family friendly atmosphere and spectators seemingly cheering all race long. Thank you to all our sponsors who make such a difference with their continued support.
