IMPORTANT: Brass Monkeys Round 1 Venue Change

by Paul Howard, 16 Nov 10.

A last minute change means that we shall now be visiting Porridgepot Hill at Pirbright for the first round of the MERIDA Brass Monkeys Series. The venue base for parking and the start is Deepcut Sports Ground on Cyprus Road. This is the same huge playing field that the Army CU Are You Tough Enough Enduro uses. But never mind we say, as we are pleased to announce that we will have full use of the venue area including the canal side whoops and drops, collective bomb holes and single track there and a massive arena area. This area also spreads riders out before they arrive at the delightful flowing single track and twisty drops and climbs which richly reward the effort of any climb with a scintillating descent. There will be a 7 mile lap which can be ridden regardless of the weather conditions.

As you know Endurance racing gives all riders a chance to shine, a good strategy, careful pacing and a little pre-event preparation will always give you a satisfying result, so by racing to win or racing to finish, either way any level of rider regardless of fitness can enjoy these events. There are 4, 2 and 1 hour age related time categories to choose from. As well as Series Points there will be Podium Presentations on the day plus some great spot prizes.

You can also expect an experienced team, computerised chip race timing, full results with position and time, commentary, photographer, Merida stand, trade stands, Quaver Catering, toilets, water, bike washing, paramedic medical cover and ambulance, radio linked mobile and static marshals and plenty of good parking. There are plenty of vantage points with great views for safe spectating too.

The event is proving massively popular and will close as soon as it is full. Please bring your MBSA receipt of entry with you in case of any query. THERE WILL BE ABSOLUTELY NO ENTRY ON THE DAY. For further details and ONLINE ENTRY please go to www.meridabrassmonkeys.com.
