Autumn Classic Results

So it rained in Brazil for the F1 finale and our season closer at Crowthorne wasn't immune either. Loosely drawing a parallel, as Hamilton, Massa and co' teetered round on tarmac we were faced with proper puddles and slippy mud making tyre choice paramount. The early racers faced the dampest of track conditions but by lunch time the track had improved considerably. A clear blue sky even greeted the Sports and Experts as the temperature became pleasantly mild. The turnout (just shy of 450) still surprised us given the appalling weather on Saturday but obviously you all love to get your racing fix. The Open was very well supported with 113 finishers. For full results and lap times click on the link above the article. You may notice in the results that many of your team or sponsor names are missing, TimeLaps are working to resolve this and apologise for the lack of detail.

We are pleased to welcome Joolze Dymond and husband Dave on board as our event photographers. Many of you will know them already from their keenness to lie about in wet ditches all day long to get that perfect shot from an unusual angle. Joolze will also be submitting press releases and race articles to magazines. Visit their website www.joolzedymond.co.uk/ to find images from the Autumn Classic and make a purchase of your favourites as a momento of the event.

On behalf of the Gorrick Team we thank you all for supporting our events through 2008 and to the sponsors for continually ploughing in finances & prizes despite the hardships businesses are facing. Can you believe next year will be our 17th year running events and we certainly don't plan to retire! There's plans afoot for at least one great new venue of our usual high standard and many improvements to make things just that little bit slicker. Jon and Jane Lucas ('the management') thank the team for devoting so much time, effort, skill and knowledge, whilst holding down fulltime jobs, to keep the sport of mountain bike racing alive and enjoyable.

Have a great winter and see you in January for round 1 of the Saddle Skedaddle Spring Series at Yateley.
