Round 4 brought forth yet more variety in the form of some tricky trails made all the more technical by slippery roots and energy sapping mud. At least the sun finally made a welcome appearance bringing warmth to the muscles and creating some pleasant suntraps for spectating. It was also encouraging to meet many new riders to our races some of whom remarked on the difficulty of the trails. You may well have been pushed above and beyond your skill level at times, or completely faltered resorting to a hop off and run moment. But that's often the beauty of racing, what you may have struggled with today you'll clear with ease next time round or when the trail is dry and dusty - keep at it. And your next opportunity is the fifth and final round at Porridgepot Hill just over the road from Frith on the 20th April. The terrain is markedly different typified by short steep climbs and one or two longer drags up. There has been a lot of trail building over the winter by the organisers of the Army CU "Are You Tough Enduro" so we're looking forward to trying out their new singletrack.

The series positions are taking shape now and some categories already have clear winners. But you are reminded that to qualify in the series and gain an overall position you must score in a minimum of three rounds. Our points system rewards regular attenders and consistent scorers.

Our photographers were busy all day and you can view their images via the Photo links above this article. We've also got a YouTube link to highlights of the Expert and Sport race. Marvel at the gearing used and hence the pace achieved by Jody Crawforth and Chris Minter, they were in a different league.

Many of you have been asking about our new Autumn Events such as the 12:12 Enduro and the Seniors UK National Champs. Full details will be publicised in April but as a taster, the Enduro is 12 hours and will have Solo and Team options. Held at Minley Manor near Yateley Heath the course is planned to be approx 8 miles per lap. The venue is similar to Yateley and will be making good use of the natural features. Full facilities will include overnight camping, showers & catering marquee. The Seniors Champs is for riders aged 30+ comprising multiple races with a new format. We hope to be announcing a major new sponsor very soon.

Moving away from racing for a moment, ALL riders over 16 who use Swinley Forest should be aware that Annual Permit renewals are now due. If you buy before the 14th April you pay the reduced fee of £16, thereafter they are £18. That's still just £1.50 a month for unlimited riding! More info in the Swinley section of the website.
