Spring Series Round 2 Results - Taking a Tunnel cHill Pill

It was great to see another healthy turnout and we thank the many of you for your kind words on the new course, it's been a long time in the making and a labour of love for us this winter!

Most encouraging today was the increase in women no doubt boosted by the rash of entries from Bath, Loughborough and Southampton Universities. These weren't the only students battling it out as the annual Varsity Trophy between Cambridge and Oxford looks to have been taken once again by Cambridge (to be confirmed). But this racing lark isn't all about the winners, as I could see from spectating that many small personal battles were won - and some lost - be it with competitors or the terrain.

It's not often, in fact I think it was a first, to have 'air support'. The Air Ambulance just happened to be flying in the local area so dropped in to provide assistance to Joe Campbell and the paramedics. We wish Joe well and a speedy recovery.

Round 3 is not far off, just three weeks till the 9th March and Crowthorne Wood where we'll be drawing the second Exodus holiday in the prize draw. You can find links to full Series details, Sponsors, Prizes and Points (to be updated later this week) listed below.

By the way, did you know TimeLaps have launched a new website? More than just a results resource the site has an events calendar, training articles and a Forum for all manner of discussion.

Looking ahead to later this year, you may have noticed Gorrick is not hosting the Southern XC, instead we're pleased to launch two new events; the 12:12 Enduro, and the Seniors UK National Championships. More information will be released in due course but for now here's the brief...

  • The Enduro is part of a three race series with SPAM Set 2 Rise and Dusk Til Dawn. Our's is a 12 hour enduro starting at 12pm on Saturday 6th September and ending at 12am (midnight). Held at Minley Manor, which is very close to Yateley Heath and M3 junction 4a, there will be full facilities and overnight camping available.
  • The Seniors UK National Championship for riders aged 30+ is held in conjunction with a major new sponsor. This xc event on the 12th October at Yateley Heath will see multiple races with a new format.
