Exodus Spring Series Round 2 Preview - Surrey Hill

by Jane Lucas, 09 Feb 07.

After last month's tremendous event at Tunnel Hill we are at Surrey Hill, Bracknell Road, Bagshot for the second round of the Gorrick Spring Series sponsored by exodus adventure holidays. Have a look at www.exodus.co.uk for the fantastic holidays that they offer!

This popular venue will feature plenty of old favourites, which of course means some hills but then the flowing singletrack descents more than compensates, along with all the facilities that you'd expect of this major Series.

If you've never raced before, why not give it a go in the Beginner or Fun categories? Racing starts at 9.30 for the under 16's and Beginners, followed by the over 30's at 10.30 while from 11.30 there are separate races for different abilities. Engraved trophies won at the first round will be available for collection and there will be lots more Series points up for grabs. To add to the suspense there will also be a Prize Draw, for all entrants over 18, for a holiday in Spain courtesy of exodus. After the bad weather doesn't that sound good?

Traditionally at Round 2 of the Series we host the annual Oxford versus Cambridge Varsity mountain bike race and this year is no different. This hotly contested battle between the light blues and dark blues will go off just after 2pm.

Don't forget that you can pre-enter online or by post until Tuesday evening, saving yourself the extra on the day, and allowing you to go straight to Entry Express to collect your number without having to queue when you arrive. If you do enter online please bring your receipt with you to the event. Remember though you can always enter on the day too.

TRAVELLING BY TRAIN
You can leave belongings with us at Registration.

  • Martin's Heron (Bracknell)
Take the B3430 south. Cross the A322 via the cycleway and footbridge, then head for The Look Out Discovery Centre. Navigating through the forest isn't the simplest of tasks, but you need to head for Vicarage Lane at the eastern side/base of Surrey Hill. Ideally print out the Swinley Forest Map (pdf) and follow the red route.
