Gorrick TrailTrax 2015

by Jane Lucas, 30 Jan 15.

As well as our XC and Enduro events, we also run other types of mtb events, so here are some details about our popular TrailTrax events which may interest you.

We have been running our TrailTrax Navigator events sponsored by Mountain Trax of Wokingham for many years. The events will start in April and run through until September. Consisting of 4 Rounds (which can be enjoyed singly or as part of the Series) here are this year’s confirmed dates and venues:

Sunday 19 April @ ‘The Jolly Farmer’ pub, Farleigh Road, Cliddesden, Hants. RG25 2JL

Sunday 31 May @ ‘The Barley Mow’ pub, Tilford, Surrey. GU10 2BU

Sunday 5 July @ ‘The Merry Harriers’ pub, Hambledon, Surrey. GU8

Sunday 20 September @ ‘The Flower Pots’ pub, Cheriton, Hants. SO24 0QQ

ENTRY: This year online pre-entry is available at www.xcracer.com otherwise you can just turn up and enter on the morning of the event.

IF YOU’RE NEW TO TRAILTRAX: Our TrailTrax events are fun for beginners as well as challenging for experienced cyclists. You can ride them as a Solo, Pair, Family or Group of riders (Group discounts are available – just ask). Full details are here.

Basically the aim is to plan your own route (*SEE BELOW) then navigate and cycle to as many checkpoints as possible in either 2 or 3 hours and collecting the highest score. If you do well you may win a prize however many choose to just ride around to a few checkpoints and enjoy the scenery. Whatever you do, you can enjoy some excellent off road cycling on a Sunday morning and then finish for food, drink, socialising and the prize giving in a great pub.

*All entrants receive a waterproof Ordnance Survey 1:50,000 map extract with the checkpoints already marked on it, a sheet giving descriptions of the checkpoint locations and a check card for punching which gives the checkpoint values. Route planning is the key skill, you don’t need to be an expert map reader!

Registration is open from 8.30am and Start Times are from 8.45 to 10.15 for the 3 hour event and from 10 to 11 am for the 2 hour schedule. The Prize Giving is at 1.30. Why not give one a go?
